When I started Halumish, the question I got most often was: who is this for? Somalis don't read newsletters, people said. The market is too small.

I disagreed. The market wasn't small — it was underserved. There was no single place where a Somali student, teacher, or founder could catch up on what's happening in their own country's tech and education landscape. Every two weeks, Halumish tries to be that place.

It's not a big operation. It's me, a few hours on a Sunday, and a genuine belief that the people building Somalia's future deserve to know what each other are doing.
